Dreams and Premonitions

Have you ever had a funny feeling that something significant was about to happen? Have you, or someone you've known, dreamed a dream that seemed particularly important?  Have you ever had a dream that seemed like a warning or prediction? Respond in a complete paragraph.

  1. I can honestly say that yes, i have had a significant dream that told me something was going to happen. Usually when i dream about teeth, someone in my family is pregnant. I have dreamt about teeth multiple times and all of the times someone in my family has been pregnant. I have also had a funny feeling that something bad was going to happen, usually whenm doing stupid things. For example i tried to ride an atv built for one person with two people on it. I had a bad feeling and as it turns out, my feelings were correct. We flipped the atv 8 times that day which is bad. Other than that, i haven't had any significant dreams, only a bad feeling when i'm doing stupid things.

  2. I can say that I have had dreams that seemed like a warning or a prediction. Sometimes, when I am in a very deep sleep, I dream about being in future situations. Sometimes, these dreams are in the near future, and sometimes they are a few years down the road. Although, if something in my dream actually happens in real life, I connect back to it and I get this feeling that I have been in this situation before. Other than that, I can't recall anything.

  3. I don't think this has ever really happened to me, but I do believe that I may have had a dream that I took as a warning. My dream was about me and my mom getting into a big fight about something stupid I did. I can't recall it perfectly but I know something like this had happened. Although, I didn't get in trouble any time near the time I had a dream, I did get into trouble later on. So I guess I could say that this has happened to me. Also, I mean I would be doing something, and would think to myself "I will get in so much trouble if my parents find out". I mean of course evertyone feels guilty at least once in their life. So I guess I can say I have had that feeling of knowing something was going to happen, but I just didn't know when.

I have heard that some people have dreams that end up becoming true or seem important at the time. They feel like they know when something is about to happen. However, for me personally, i have never experienced this. I do believe that it can happen, but i have never felt or had a dreem that seemed like a warning or prediction.

  5. One night I had a dream about a car accident. I thought it was just a dream when I woke up, and went through the whole day not worrying. I went to school, nothing out of the ordinary happened. I got on my bus, still nothing had happened. The ride home on the bus was the same, very boring, my stop being the last stop. Went inside my house, nothing out of the normal, and waited for four pm when my mom would be home. So I watched some tv, nothing weird happening. My mom was running late, as it was almost 5 o'clock. She got hom around 5:15. When I asked what took her so long, she said there was a car crash so it took her a little longer to get home.

  6. Unfortunately, I don't think that any of these things have happened to me. I can't think of a time that I have had a dream that was significant or one that seemed like a warning or prediction. However, there have been times that I have had the feeling that a sports team would win/lose a game or that I would get a certain grade on a test. Otherwise, I haven't had any feelings about anything significant that I thought that would happen to me or any dreams that have come true somehow. Most dreams don't make much sense anyway, so I don't see how they could be interpreted as a "premonition" about a coming event that would be significant at all. None of these things have happened to me or anybody I know, and I have trouble believing that they even happen at all.

  7. I have once had a dream before that seemed like a warning or prediction for something to happen in the future. My dream was that I was in a car with a couple of other people and there ended up being a car accident and a few were injured. I was completely fine and all, but the dream just gave me the spooks considering how realistic it appeared to be. Nobody died in the dream, but it seemed like it was a warning for something to happen later in my life. And a couple of days or even a later, one of my family members ended up in a minor car crash. It was minor, as there was no severe damage, but the dream predicted a major event that happened in the future. I didn't realize it at the time that my dream was a prediction, but I sure do now.

  8. I am sorry to say that I have never had a funny dream or a premonition. When things happen to me I can only think that a. it’s just destiny, what’s supposed to happen or b. it isn't supernatural, just a random event. I really don't believe that some higher form is controlling my life or anyone’s really. Its either coincidental or just plain old dumb luck. If something bad happens, I don't blame anyone but myself. I really have never experienced a premonition or a strange dream.

  9. In my case, I have never dreamed that seemed important or seemed like a prediction, but I have dreamed something, thought nothing of it, and then someone very close to that in meaning or how it played out would happen in real life. As for funny feelings I get, I always get the feeling that something big is going to happen right before it does, but I believe that is just human nature. For example, whenever I'm watching my favorite sports team, I can always guess when they are going to spark a comeback and win. Usually they don't, but on the few occasions that they do, I usually know. I believe that dreams and your conscious can predict things that are going to happen, but my dreams don't.

  10. i dont think i have ever had a dream that came true but some dreams stick in my mind for some reason maybe having a significant meaning. having a dream that comes true or having a dream that might make me think something is less common than having a funny feeling that something significant would happen. sometimes i would think something was going to happen in my head and then a few seconds later it would or something like it would. one time i forget when it was but i had kept thinking things on my head and they were happening one after the other it was weird but that was the only time that something happened that that happened but nothing really really significant happened then.

  12. I believe that dreams are always an indicator of how someone feels, but I'm not so sure about it being a way to get warnings or predictions. Say, if someone had a dream about someone dying, I think that just means that the dreamer misses that person, not that that person is actually going to die. I myself have never really had a really significant dream of such things, just ones that reflect my feelings and how my life is going at the time. However, not only have I never had a dream that indicated something that would happen in the future, but I also think that it's just impossible altogether.

  13. Some dreams may seem as though they have significance, where you are warned about what may happen in your future. I have heard stories from a few people, where they think their dream was important, maybe more important than previous dreams. For me, personally, I have never had a dream where I thought it would happen in my life. My dreams are usually unrealistic, and even if some may seem important, I do not see them as a 'warning' for what will happen to me on the next day, for example. Although many people may think that a certain dream has more importance than others, I do not recall ever having a dream that stood out so much to me, where I had a funny feeling it was a warning.

  14. There have been a few specific times where I have had a dream or feeling that something significant would occur in the near future. Although I can’t say that any of these feelings have been correct, I am familiar with the sensation that an important event is going to happen soon. For example, sometimes I have reoccurring dreams that seem to mean nothing. However, I feel that someday these dreams will make sense to me. Besides these small instincts, I haven’t classified any other dreams or strange feelings as a warning. However, I am familiar with the feeling of a conscience in situations where I am faced with an important decision. Following my natural instincts reminded me of this question because consulting a conscience is like giving myself a warning. Other than those few simple examples, I am not acquainted with the idea of premonitions and predictions.

  15. I have had that funny feeling that something significant was about to happen. I don't really remember a specific moment but I can tell when the mood around me is down, something bad happened or is going to happen. I'm sure that I have had dreams that somehow became important but I can't remember any off the top of my head.

  16. Over the years I have heard of this kind of thing happening to some people, but I have never actually experienced it myself. I do not really believe that someone can predict the future by what has happened in thier dreams, but i do thingk that some people have had dreams that have related to what is happening in their lives, but I believe that this was just coincidence. For me, this has never happened and I don't think it will happned.

  17. I did have a funny feeling that on Christmas this year I would receive a gift I previously thought was impossible to get. Weeks before I looked for a sweatshirt online that I could get as a present. However they didn't have my size on any of the websites I looked at. My dad made several calls and emails to people in the UK to try to find this sweatshirt. On one of the days leading up to Christmas I was watching a game where the team I supported had on the sweatshirt before playing. I had a funny feeling that on Christmas I would get that sweatshirt despite all odds. Sure enough, on Christmas morning it was waiting under the tree for me.

  18. Although I have never had a dream that has seemed like it had a meaning or was important, I know someone who has. A week before my great grandmother passed away, she called my grandfather to tell him about a dream she had the previous night. At first no one knew what she was talking about because all she said was “It won’t hurt. Don’t worry.” This was confusing to everyone because we didn’t know what wasn’t going to hurt. However, a week later it was clear what she was talking about; she passed away in her sleep peacefully. Other than this experience, though, I have not heard of any significant dreams that others have had.

  19. Some people believe that some dreams they have are sometimes a warning or signal that something will happen. They believe that their dreams are trying to tell you what will happen. Many years ago a friend of mine had a dream that somebody in their family died. It didnt seem like a big deal because that person was completely okay. They just ignored the dream because they didnt think it was important. However a few weeks later that family member had become very sick. My friend didnt notice at first but one day came to me and thought back to that dream. They blamed it on themselves even though it wasnt their fault.. it was just a dream. How could they have known? However even if they had payed more attention to the dream how could it have prevented their family member from being sick?

Yes, I have had a dream that gave me information about an event that was going to happen in the future. Last year, the Lincoln Middle School softball team was in the state championship. After a very successful season, I went to sleep the night before the states championship. After I woke up I remembered having a dream about the game. We did not have the best game, and as a result ended up losing. That same day, we played the game and my nightmare came true. We ended up losing in a close game.

  21. Sometimes I've had dreams of the near future, but nothing really big. It would usually be just the setting of a place that I may visit in the next few days or weeks. For example, I've had a dream of me and my family sitting in some random sitting area. And it turned out that was the lobby of a hotel. These dreams usually occur, but Ive never had a dream about something serious.

  22. I have never had a significant dream about something that proceeded to happen to me. I've heard of many people who do have dreams that end up relating to an event that happens to them later but I have never expirienced this. Normally, I will dream about something that already happened in my life or whatever is on my mind but there haven't been any events that have formed out of them. When I wake up in the morning, I rarely remember my whole dream let alone part of it. When I do, I will know a dream happened but can't put what happened in it together. Sometimes I will get reminded of what I dreamed about and other times I forget. None of my dreams have been significant to the point where a dream reoccurs in reality.

  23. I dont think that I have ever dreamed about something and have it happen in real life, but my dreams usually relate to how I'm feeling lately or how I'm feeling about something occuring in my life. For example, lately I've been having a certain dream multiple times about something thats been worrying me that has not come yet, and the closer I get to the event the more worried I get. I'm hoping that the bad things that happen in my dream at the certain event do not actually happen. Whenever I'm excited or really happy about something usually my dreams are good, and if I'm stressed, angry, nervous, or upset over something then my dreams will be bad. So no an event that happened in my dreams never happened in real life, but how I feel relates to my dreams.

  24. I have had dreams of the near future, though it was really only about places I would be going. I don't know if I just dreamt of all this because I sometimes knew was going to the place the next day or just a freak incident that told me to go to a specific place. Who knows what could be the cause, although it seems pretty straightforward. I have had a dream once that showed me a few things about the upcoming year, but nothing really big. Overall, I really haven't had any dreams that have told me a clear view of the future or anything of that sort.

  25. I've honestly have dreams of the future statistically or dreams of actual reality but not something super important. Before the Super Bowl in 2008, I've had a dream that the Pats would lose. The dream wasn't the actual game, far from it. That I would define as statistical premonitions. Things that we have in your mind, we unconciously think what would happen at the end. I usually get dreams about sports. Actual premonitions I've had was deja vu dreams that I would be doing in real life and realize that I've been dreaming it, like eating a doughnut exactly as it happens in reality. That's the premonitions I had that were minor and not so important.

  26. Unfortunately, I have never had any dream that came as a warning or prediction, nor have I or anyone I know had a dream about something important. Dreams are made up of the leftover 'steam' in your mind. In almost every dream nothing makes sense because its just jumbled up thoughts that you think of. There have been cases where people have tried to manipulate dreams, but the outcome is nothing more than more jumbled up nonsense. Next, I have had the feeling that something important was going to happen. This mainly happens before a large vacation or during a day when there is bad weather. Other than that, I have nevr had any sporatic feeling that something important was going to happen.

  27. I have never dream about something warning me about the future. I have hear people who have but I dont really believe that it is possible just a coincidence that the dream and what happens is connected. Sometimes I might dream about things that could happen in the future. All of the time they never end up happening. Althought sometimes when I am doing things in real life I can feel like it already happened. This could be a sign of me seeing the future in. I dont really think so though. My dreams do not warn me about thing that could happen.

  28. Though I never had a dream that was significant or realativly important, I have had a dreams that related to what I was going to do in the near future. For example I would have dreams about school but it would be weird, like some of the items of the school were strange like a light or desk being weirdly different or a student who dosen't attend here being part of the school. Thus other than the going to school part, nothing would relate to the future, therefore my dreams are never important or significant.

  29. In my past experiences I have had ideas and dreams that have occurred in real life. The dreams however I cannot remember what they were. Usually, these dreams that I have that end up happening in real life are small experiences. Such as having a conversation with someone about a certain topic, or what we are having for dinner that night. A strong thought that I had that did come true was about a child having cancer. After both my parents, adults were diagnosed with cancer I had a strong feeling that a child would be the next to be diagnosed with a disease. A few weeks later, my friend was diagnosed with cancer. Many a time these predictions are about petty subjects, yet on that rare occasion they do seem to be a warning. These are my experiences with having dreams and feelings that turn out to be predictions or warnings of the future.

  30. I cannot honestly say that I have had a feeling that something significant or important was going to happen to me or others. My dad however has predicted a significant event and was correct about it. One day while I was in the car with him we arrived at the intersection near the High School and stopped at a red light, we were first in line to go at the next green light. My dad however felt that something seemed wrong. When our light turned green he didnt budge. Then, suddenly, a driver in the southbound lane (we were heading Northbound) went through his red light. Had my dad not anticpated that something bad was going to happen and acted on his prediction I may not be here today.

I don't think I've ever had a dream that was a warning sign or had a funny feeling that something important was about to happen, but I have had dreams about things that were going to happen in the near, or distant, future. For example, before important soccer games or the night before a really big test, I often have a dream about what will happen the next day. Another example is when I watch a movie right before going to bed, I'll often have dreams that I was in that movie. For example, I recently watched a scary movie late at night, and then had a dream that night that I was in the movie. Simple dreams like this usually happen, but I don't think I've ever had a dream of significant meaning.

  33. Personally, I have never had a dream that was a premonition of the future, but people have told me they claimed this has happened to them before. Occasionally there is the feeling of something bad that could happen, but that is more of a fear that it could happen than any clairvoyance. I don't think a dream can be a prediction or warning, but it can be what someone already thinks is going to happen in the back of their mind, without realizing it. It may seem like your subconscious is predicting the future, but it was something you were already thinking about, and you happen to be true.

  34. I have never personally had a dream that went on to occur in the future or that was a repeating dream. But, I have heard from family and friends that this has happened to before. One time my mom had a dream that there was a fire and her mom told her that he will be alright. When she woke up she paniced and called my father and eh didn't answer. What actually happened that day was that my das's truck caught fire and eh said it felt like somebody pushed him out. My mom thinks that her mom was the one that pushed him out to save him and that the dream was a warning. My dreams are only things that have happened in the past, i have never had a dream about something that would happen in the futrue.

  35. From what I remember, I have not had a dream that was a serious warning, but I have seemed to remember a few of my dreams and I do not know their meaning. However, I remember my father telling me a story about how he had a dream one night when he was little and it came to be reality the next day. His dream was about his neighbor and his neighbors dog, by the end of the dream, the dog had died. My father loved this dog and he always took care of it like it was his own. When he woke up the next day, he went over his neighbors house and the dog was dead. Over the years, I have had many dreams, but none seemed to be serious, and many of them I dont remember. Most of the dreams I can remember include my family, but I have not yet found out what makes them important, if they even are. Therefore, my father is the only one I know of so far that has had a dream that was serious.

  36. Some dreams that occur have significant meaning to your future or are just significant. I have never had a dream that appeared to be a warning or prediction of the future. No one I know has appeared to have a dream of the future or a future prediction. No one I know has any siginificant dreams. No one Im aware of has a significant dream.I don't have any significant dreams in general in except one. I dreamt of being with my deceased grandma and us just talking. It was small talk about how my life was and how she was doing. This is particularity significant because she died when I was 1 years old and I never truly talked to her. Dreams can have significance and you may not even realize it.

Yes I have had dreams about the future but not anything really important. Normally these type of dreams just consist of a certain place or a certain activity and to me isnt a sign of anything. An example of this was when I had a dream about of vacation with my family up in newyork. A year later my family actually went to newyork, where it almost felt as if I was living my actually dream and the whole time there I experienced this Dejavu feeling but I couldnt remeber what I was comparing that trip too. So yes I have had dreams where I kind of see the future but I have never had a dream that I would say was a warning or prediction

  38. Everyone always has bad or good feelings about certain situations, but I have never had a bad feeling about a situation that was actually correct. I believe that things happen spontaneously and there is no way of knowing the outcome before hand, therefore the feelings we have either good or bad are based on similar experiances we have heard of or seen. But, I do believe dreams are always significant to what is going on in real life. For example, if you're flying in your dream, you're feeling empowered and if you're losing teeth, you are feeling self-conscience. Also, in many cases if you dream about a certain person, you probably miss them. Dreams are usually, to me, in some form about what is going on in my life at the time, or important events that have happened. I have heard that many people do get warning signs in their dreams, but this is something I have never experianced myself; which brings me back to the beginning of my blog post, and it may be based off of someone else's experiances that are similar to your own.

  39. I have had dreams of the near future on a few occasions. For example, the night before the finals in a tennis tournament I had a dream about the match. I have dreamt about the different shots I might miss, the points I would lose, and the serves I would hit out. The night before a big performance, I would dream about forgetting my lines, getting stage fright, messing up on the dances, and even of falling off the stage. I would also daydream about people not enjoying the performance, telling me how much they hated it, and my director being disappointed in me and the cast. Thankfully, none of these things have come happened, at least not to the extent I dreamt about them. Well, besides falling off the stage, that dream was spot on. Overall though, the few dreams I have had of the future, have not come true.

  40. I do not remember any time that I had a dream that served as a warning or a prediction. My dreams are usually not about anything important or significant in my life. However, I have had dreams about small things that seem to come true later. I remeber the day before school this year where I had a dream about what one of my classrooms looked like. When I stepped into that classroom the next day, I could have sworn that I had been there before. Other than this, I don't remember any significant dreams that told me of the furure.

  41. I have never had a significant dream that was important, I have gotten a bad feeling about certain things. For example one day i was getting a really bad feeling about leaving stuff in our car even though we live in a very safe neighborhood. I took all o my important stuff out of the car and that night someone went through our car and many others looking for valuables. But other than this I have never had a dream or anything that is significant.

  42. There have been times that I have had dreams that I didn't think were significant at the time, but later realized that they were a prediction or warning of what was going to happen in the future. Whenever I dream about someone that is closed to me getting injured or if they are lost in my dream, generally something bad happens to my family a few days later. For example, I had a dream that my aunt got into a car accident and was in the hospital. A few days later my mom told me that my aunt and uncle were getting divorced. I have realized that these dreams I'm having are telling me that something bad could possibly happen in the near or distant future.

  43. When I dream, I can sometimes say that strange things have occurred. I once had a dream in which a burglar came into my house and tried to take our things. The next day, everything was normal. I went to school (LMS) and took the bus home. A few of my friends called me and invited me to hang out with them that afternoon. I got really tired so I called my dad to pick me up. He came with my brother. We drove home and we saw a car park near our driveway in a spot that nobody parks in. We saw a man putting a TV into his trunk with a little force. I, unknowingly, made a joke. I said, "Hey, that guy's stealing our TV!" Everybody laughed along with me. My dad asked, "Can you imagine if he really did?" I think that it may be important to know that we had just recently purchased a large flat screen TV, so it would have been tragic if this guy was stealing it. We drove up the road and made a U-turn. The guy was not there. We shrugged it off and walked up to our front door only to find that our door had been smashed-in. I couldn't help but think of the dream. This man just broke into our house in broad daylight. It was more than just a coincidence. Our neighbor had gotten the license plate number and picked the man out of a line-up. Anyway, knowing that I had dreamed this exact event was scary to me. Needless to say, I think that this was a premonition and, yes, it has happened to me.

  44. After reading this question I wasn't able to remember a time when I feel something is going to happen to me. But sometimes I feel like I dream about something important. Most of these dreams would occur if a recent disaster also occured. I am not able to say that I ever had a warning or I never had a dream that I thought was a warning.

  45. I can say that I have indeed had a weird feeling/ dream that signified something was going to happen, but I can't think of an example off of the top of my head. Sometimes something will happen to me, and it will trigger the memory of a dream or it will connect to something I had felt earlier. However, these events do not hold much importance, they are almost just a coincidence. On the other hand, I do have dreams that relate to situations or events that have already happened, more often. Dreams are hard to remember, but I feel like it is obviously easier to recall when something reminds you of it, even if it's the littlest things.
